‘Distractions “

There are many things that keep us busy or preoccupied in life. Those things include work, responsibilities, and an ongoing list. Have you ever wondered what would happen if you weren’t so busy? What if you had the opportunity to think without worrying about anything? Maintaining a preoccupied mind keeps us in a pattern and life cycle that may often prevent us from seeing with a clearer vision of other things and people that truly matter.

During my days at the gym, I’ve begun to think a little more about my time. When I’m on the treadmill, I usually don’t feel the time pass. I’m able to walk or jog a lot longer with music on or something to read on my phone. As I’m reading, I get caught up in admiration or focus on what I keep my mind busy with. When I don’t play music, nor use my phone.. Time passes very slowly.

When time passes slowly, or when there’s no sound nor distractions around you, you have the ability to see and think clearer. I often enjoy keeping myself busy as it allows time to pass quickly through productivity. My passion for multiple things have kept me busy for years, and will continue to do so. However, there’s a balance between loving what we do and loving what we don’t know - the unknown! In silence, and solitude, we can see and think clearer. Seeing and thinking clearer about things in life, how we feel, what we wish for, and anything else allows the unknown to flourish in our lives. Sometimes the unknown can be a blessing in disguise.

We need time to pass slowly. We need time to think and see things clearer without sound or distractions. I’ve learned to fall in love with life as I eliminate distractions. I’ve learned to view the nature, buildings, cars, and people a little differently. I’ve learned to value things and think differently as I remove distractions or a busy agenda to allow myself to view life with a clearer lens. Whether you wear glasses or not, I encourage you to close your eyes eyes and pray for a new vision, a clearer perspective. I pray that you encounter understanding and appreciation of the unknown and what God has in store for you. Allow yourself to breathe and view what you haven’t seen before. Whether you give yourself permission to think in the sofa, away from home, or by taking a day off from work, the amount of time or how you do it is personal. Take the time you need and you will encounter beauty.
