“The Depths of True Love” By Katherine Sorto

I find myself writing the most about love as love is a topic I have discovered through my faith. Love is a four letter word often misused and said by many without the true experience of what love really is or feels like. I’ve experienced being loved and taken care of by my wonderful parents whom I adore. Yet, the love I discovered through God overcomes the love anyone can try to give or the term loved used wrongly by many unfortunately.
In John 3:16, the world can read the verse stating “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son , that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. When I read that verse and scriptures, my soul experiences sweet honey like tasting moments. I can’t describe well what scriptures bring to my heart and soul, but the best way to describe it in one word would be “fulfilling”. I read scriptures that have taught me about a love so deep and powerful found in the precious moment where Jesus Christ gave himself for the world in the cross.
When I see my son, I see and experience love at sight and fulfillment as a mother. His warm hugs, laughter, smiles, and daily stories are what fulfills me as a mother. As an individual, and walking human being as everyone else, what fulfills my spirit and mind are scriptures. Why or how? As you’re reading, you may ask yourself .. “How?”. I may not have a clear answer as everyone interprets readings and the scriptures differently. However, I can firmly share that I believe in a loving God and father that has no exceptions, no preference , and absolutely NO FAVORITES! In Romans 2:11, you can read how “God has no favorites”. We live in a world full of division, hatred, anger, constant war, and darkness. Yet, his love is unmeasurable, unlimited, unconditional, and for everyone.
I’ve discovered a love so deep that can be found anywhere. If I choose to take a walk in the park and sit by a bench, I can feel peace, love, and comfort knowing I’m loved by God. I can be found in a hospital, funeral, and in any other place. Will I still experience Gods love and warmth? Yes! His love for me and you is UNSHAKEABLE, UNCONDITIONAL, and UNLIMITED.
Throughout my life, I’ve seen many tell one another “I Love You”. Unfortunately, many of those I’ve witnessed tell one another “I Love You” have said it a few times, a few years, or for many years without truly understanding the POWER behind those three words. Many have said an “I Love You” falsely without knowing the beauty and power behind through three words. There are thousands of divorces yearly due to the misuse of the word “Love” and vows being made by two becoming one without truly being a Godly design to join together and become one. I’ve seen few marriages in which two come together and are truly in love. Love is the most powerful term describing the unconditional love God gave to the world through his one and only son. In Corinthians 13, you can read about a love that is patient, kind, and descriptions of what love truly is. In another writing, I will share the etymology of the word “Love” and my personal reflections.
Many believe they have found “LOVE” or wish to find it. Many may even believe they have found it and make a decision without truly experiencing it or understanding it. I’ve come to an understanding that true love is real. Those that have made decisions based on self will rather than Gods will in hopes of having found the one end up in frustration and experience dissatisfaction. Perhaps Disney movies and many lacking the experience of encountering their true love have written films, movies, and music that distract humanity from discovering a love that is rich. Love is meant to satisfy your soul , mind, body, and spirit for eternity. Love is meant to overflow in your hearts from inside out. The good news for all is that love is real, it does exist, and it’s designed for everyone to feel and encounter. The truest form of love can be found through your faith. Love can also be found through the people in your life, your true and purposeful spouse designed by God for you, your children, animals, and an ongoing list of beautiful ways we can experience love. Will anyone amount to the love of God? No, but God does create those meant to walk next to us according to his purpose and will over our lives.
You may ask yourselves many questions about LOVE after reading this, and that is a part of questioning the misuse of the term LOVE by millions and likely yourself as well. Think of how deeply and passionately God loved the world and continues to do so. Everyone is worthy of that precious love, and worthy of discovering a true designed love from God through others. May you experience richness in love, the beauty , and power of love!
